Book Check In-Out Procedures
Current adjustments are being made due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The following are guidelines under "normal" operational procedures:
Patrons may access the print and electronic collection through Destiny Quest. They may checkin/out materials on a daily basis.
To serve a student population of approximately 300 students, the following book circulation policies are in place.
Number of items students are allowed to have checked out:
Kindergarten - First Grade - 1 book
2nd - 5th - 2 items total - (2 books or 1 book and 1 magazine)
Students are allowed to keep items for one week and then they must be returned or renewed.
Check-in Procedures:
Students are responsible for checking in and shelving their print materials. Each class completes and orientation unit in which individuals learn how to properly scan in and return materials to the correct location. Failure of the student to properly scan in items will result in an inaccurate record of materials. Please assist you child at home by establishing a routine of keeping borrowed materials in a safe place such as a book shelf (away from pets). When the child is through using the item, remind them to carry it in his/her book bag as it is returned to school.
Failure to check-in a book will result in the following:
-The student's check-out quantities will be limited until the item(s) is/are returned.
-An overdue/lost notice will be printed and given to the student.
-The student will be required to pay for the replacement of lost or severely damaged items.
Students are not fined for overdue books. If a book is lost or damaged, please notify the media coordinator. Do not try to repair a damaged book yourself. Student/parents will be given a notice for the replacement cost of the book if it is lost or damaged "beyond repair." Until this charge is cleared from the student's account, the lost or damaged book counts as one of the student's checked out books. The library will not accept a replacement book for the lost/damaged book.
Check-out Procedures:
Students may check out materials on a daily basis. During an orientation unit, students are taught how to select and check out the items that they want to borrow. Each child will have a library card that is scanned. The child then scans the library item(s) to be checked out.
