Old Fort Elementary Reading Showcase
The purpose of the McDowell County Schools Reading Showcase is to provide third through twelfth graders the opportunity to creatively share their favorite book.
This year, the projects are "open ended". Students have "creative liberty" with the end product. All products will need to contain writing elements as they pertain to the book category. Links are provided below to give assistance in designing the Reading Showcase Project.
Each grade in third, fourth, and fifth will choose 3 winners to attend the McDowell County Schools' Reading Showcase.
Projects will go through two levels of judging: Peer Review (by grade level) and
Old Fort Elementary Reading Fair Dates:
Family Work Session: Thursday, February 16, 2017 -Join us in the Learning Commons to help your child with his/her project.
Project Completion Date: Wednesday, March 1, 2017 (Due to classroom teachers)
Project Teacher Guided Peer Reviews: Thursday, March 2, 2017 (by grade levels...each grade level will submit 9 projects)
Projects Delivered to Learning Commons/Media Center: Monday, March 6, 2017
Professional Review Judging: Tuesday, March 7, 2017 (3 projects from each grade level will be selected for the
county showcase.)

Project Guidelines:
- A student may select a fiction or nonfiction book appropriate for his/her reading level.
